Edgar R. Hernandez
Media projection & Sculpture Installation
Edgar Hernandez (Eddy) is a Guatemalan-Canadian prolific artist who presents a new scope of seeing nature and life. Working within communities towards a great concern for climate and social change, he has produced various experimental and documentary short films. His stunning multisensory video montage, Live Connected, at the symposium community blueprint exposes the relational issues between creativity and change within our society. As the gate to imagination opens, new philosophies for creativity, living and consciousness comes to light. Hernandez has seen his work exhibited in many group exhibitions, including Asinabka film and media art festival in cyber space, the One World Film Festival and Fresh Paint / New Construction Gallery Art Mûr, Montréal.
He holds degrees in art and design, including a BFA (Sculpture and Media) from the University of Ottawa with a minor in Spanish. Furthermore, he earned a college diploma in Graphic Design from La Cité collégiale. Navigating through the current social changes, Hernandez has filmed numerous short videos of indigenous knowledge and wisdom through the Eagle and Condor Collective.
Hernandez is currently an art instructor for the Association pour l’Intégration Sociale d’Ottawa (AISO). He is also an active local community volunteer and has contributed to abroad community projects in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic.
